Will you join us on this journey?

This fall, Westgate is going on a journey of pursuit. Together, we will explore the books of Ezra and Nehemiah where we will learn about how God’s exiled people rediscovered God’s plans for them. In many ways, believers in today’s world find ourselves in an “exile” of our own. We will use Ezra/Nehemiah as a roadmap for rediscovering God’s heart for his church and his people.

We believe God will move in powerful ways as we study, discuss and reflect together as a congregation.

This study will include:

  • An 11-week sermon series (starting on Kickoff Sunday - September 13)

  • A 10-week small group curriculum for groups to dive deeper into the week’s theme (starting the week of September 20)

  • A personal devotion built for personal reflection and engagement (three times per week throughout the study)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Generally speaking, churches participate in all-church studies in order to establish unity of heart and mind across all demographics and ministry areas. More specifically, we’re writing The Pursuit Project as an experience that will drive both individual formation and a rediscovery of our intended purposes as the body of Christ. If we’re going to grow into a new depth of following Jesus together, we need as much participation as possible!

  • The group study curriculum is designed as an opportunity to go deeper into the text and topic for the week, as well as a chance for groups to discuss the real world applications that God is calling out of each person. We will provide a written summary of the weekend sermon, a brief summary of the primary Ezra/Nehemiah passage, questions for digging into Scripture together, and questions for personal application. We hope and assume that each leader will take time with the material before each week’s discussion to tailer the questions to their specific group.
