The most expensive bottle of perfume in the world will cost you a whopping $1.8 million! It's made with rare ingredients, and the bottle is covered in gold and diamonds. That's a pretty steep price just to smell good!
In Bible times, perfume was also extremely expensive-sometimes worth an entire year's salary. Because it was so expensive, people didn't use it every day. And when they did, they used a very small amount. That's why it was so unbelievable to see a woman pouring perfume on Jesus' feet to worship Him!
This woman wasn't accepted by the people around her. They remembered all the wrong she had done. But Jesus looked at her differently-He saw her faith, her love, and her need for forgiveness. Instead of pushing her away, He forgave her completely.
Sometimes you might feel like you've messed up too much, or that God wouldn't want you because of the wrong things you've done. But Jesus is bigger than your mistakes. He offers forgiveness freely to anyone who comes to Him. Just like the woman, you don't have to hide-you can come to Jesus honestly, and He promises grace.
Everyone has sinned and owes a debt they could never repay. Jesus, the only sinless One, died in our place to pay the debt for our sin. When we trust in Jesus, we are forgiven of all our sins and are credited with Jesus' perfect life.
