09.20.2026 | Jesus Walked on Water
Matthew 14:22-33; Mark 6:45-52; John 6:15-21
Have you ever watched a magician perform a trick and been amazed? They make a coin disappear or float in the air, and for a moment, it seems like something impossible is happening. But if you look closely, it’s really just sleight of hand—tricks and illusions designed to confuse us. Magicians make us think they have power, but it’s only pretend.
Jesus, on the other hand, didn’t need tricks. One night, His disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee. The wind was strong, the waves were crashing, and they were terrified. Then they saw Jesus walking on the water toward them! Unlike a magician, Jesus really has power over nature. While gravity would have pulled a normal person under the water, Jesus walked on top of the water! He could do what no one else could, because He is God.
Peter even tried to step out of the boat and walk toward Jesus, and he could, but only as long as he kept his eyes on Jesus. The moment Peter looked at the wind and waves, he began to sink. Jesus reached out and caught Peter, saying, “You have little faith. Why did you doubt?”
This story reminds us that Jesus isn’t just a good teacher or a kind friend—He is God. He has power over everything, even the wind and waves. And He wants us to trust Him in the storms of our lives—whether it’s fear at school, worry at home, or sadness about friends. When we keep our eyes on Jesus, we can have peace because He is in control.
Jesus showed He is God by walking on water. He has power over everything—wind, waves, and even fear. Jesus is the Son of God who cares for us and is always with us. When we trust Jesus, we don’t need to be afraid.
Pray: Jesus, thank You for showing us that You have power over everything, even the storms in our lives. Help us keep our eyes on You and trust You, even when we feel afraid. Remind us You are always near and that You are always in control. Amen.
